American Planning Conference in Chicago - April, 2013

Friday, 12th - Jimmy John's #6 & #10 and off for Chicago! Well, York, NE for tonight. We stumbled across an America's Best Value Inn here a few years back that is the best, cheap motel ever. Good beds, good shower, micro and fridge and waffles for breakfast - all for under $50. Windy but otherwise uneventful travels.

Saturday, 13th - Off early to get into Chicago before nightfall. No troubles and we are able to settle into the Hyatt-Regency downtown plenty early. We get Diana settled in at the convention and get to our room; nothing special but a nice 27th floor view.

Sunday-Tuesday - Diana has her first session and Noel goes shopping (water and other supplies we'd gone through on our travels). Lunch is a nice brunch/buffet and then we have our bus tour of Chicago. It was pretty good - learned some history of Chicago. We did find a couple of squishers in the evening, too!

Wednesday, 17th - Diana has one final session then we are off to explore the city. First stop is Willis Tower fka Sears Tower Skyview on 110th floor. The weather has been iffy (windy, cold, rainy) all week but today was the worst of it. We tried taxis, buses and walking but it was COLD! Some squishing but not all we'd have liked . . . New hotel (on our dime now) and early to bed to warm up!

Thursday, Friday, 18th,19th - Westward HO! And home . . . WINDY! lots of rain and a flat tire but made the round trip safe and sound.

NOT Chicago but in Nebraska along I-80
