Patricia Lou Lonergan née Hamilton, “Pat”, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 8, 2023, at the Solomia Home Care in Saint Helens, Oregon. Known for her warm heart, bold red hair, and feistiness, Pat spent a lifetime caring for her family and truly anyone that she crossed paths in her vocation as a dedicated RN.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband (Ed), parents (Joe and Mary Hamilton), and her brother (James). She is survived by her sister (Mary Jo Welch), four children (Brian, Diana, Mark, and Teresa); four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Pat's early years were spent in Lansing, MI and later Lubbock, TX where she graduated with her bachelors in nursing. After graduation she traveled to San Francisco, CA where she met, fell in love, and married Ed (November 1959). Pat’s home and heart was truly the life she built in Bend, Oregon where she and her family resided for over half a century (1969-2020). Pat's dedication to being the best RN ever was only exceeded by her dedication to her Heavenly Father and family.
After four decades Pat retired as an RN from St Charles Medical Center in Bend and stayed in the business of caring for others by volunteering at VIM-Volunteers in Medicine, Saint Vincent de Paul, and, along with her husband, as the "Bread man's Wife" at their grass-roots food pantry known as Yeshua's Food Basket.
